This weekend was absolutely wonderful! Not only did I get to run my second 5K, but I also got to hang out with some pretty awesome people Image may be NSFW.

I’ve been looking for insoles for my shoes since my chiropractor recommended getting them, and haven’t been able to find the right ones at any stores so of course I had to go back to the running store to get them!
I love love love the running store near me, and the owner is seriously awesome. He checked my Caspers (my Ghosts for those that can’t keep up with all my made up names for everything!) because he wasn’t there when I got them and he also found me awesome insoles for not only my sneakers but also ones I can wear in all my flats. I told him I don’t think I lace my shoes right (I’m such a newbie) so he spent a couple minutes with me, going over it carefully and didn’t make me feel stupid at all. I love that they value customer service! Really such a great store!
We got to talking about my 5K the next day, and he said “You’re running a 5K tomorrow in brand new shoes and brand new insoles? You should probably get some BodyGlide, you’re going to get blisters!”
So of course, I left with 2 expensive-ish insoles, new socks and BodyGlide. Running is going to become a very expensive hobby for me, I think. I’m on the hunt for compression socks, and a GPS watch Image may be NSFW.

I had the most fun at my 5K! My mom, sister & I ran it and it was so much fun to do it together! We each made a $5 donation to “rent” a dog to run with during the race, and I’m so glad I did! I had so much fun with my little buddy Sasha and I hope somebody adopts her soon! All the dogs you could rent are adoptable dogs through the shelter Image may be NSFW.

Sasha & I crossing the finish line!
My goals for the race were to have fun (of course!!!) and I was trying to beat my time from my last 5K 2 years ago, which was 45 minutes.
I crossed the finish line in 54:08, but it’s okay! I haven’t run or done any kind of exercise in about a month, because I was trying to be kind to my hip before my first chiropractor appointment. Also, this 5K was on trails (and I was running with a puppy!) so I’m really really happy with my time. At one point the course split for the walkers and the runners, so I had the opportunityto go the 2 mile walking route, or continue on my 5K route. I continued on the 5K route, running slowly, because I wanted to keep trying. I’m so proud of myself for this!
It was a beautiful course and a beautiful day and I had such a fun time! I’m so glad we did this! Plus, hearing my mom yelling “Go Lindsay!” at the end helped me kick it into high gear across the finish line. I’m so lucky to have such a supportive family Image may be NSFW.

My mom, sister & I :)
I was the last one doing the 5K to cross the finish line, but to be completely honest I really don’t care. Plus I won this awesome Thirty-One bag for being the 31st person in my age group to cross the finish line!

Proudly holding my prize!
Just the fact that I was out there, challenging myself, means a lot and I crossed the finish line. That’s all that matters! We got so caught up in comparing ourselves to others, and wanting to be good at things, and wanting to be the best that we forget to be proud of OUR best.
I did my best out there, and I tried my hardest. Yes I had to walk, but I still ran quite a bit. Plus Sasha was loving all the smells and the sounds of the trail so of course we had a couple little pit stops!
I’m so excited to keep running and training for more races and eventually my half.
I know it sound silly to say I’m proud of myself, but I really am.
Thank you so much for all of your support! My sweaty self appreciates it Image may be NSFW.

Right after crossing the finish line!
Tell me about your weekend! Did you workout or run any races? I want to hear all about it!
